If you've been following our blog lately, you've probably noticed we've been talking a bit about all the good bringing your car to our dealership for a fall service visit can do. However, while we focused a lot on the advantages of brake service, it's also important to note one of the oft-overlooked elements of car care, and that's tire care. With the holidays just around the corner, it's more important than ever to ensure your car's tires are in good shape, and we can help you do just that here at Robbin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT.

Now, as a general rule of thumb, you want to make sure your tires are properly inflated, regularly rotated, and well-aligned. This will prevent uneven wear and help you achieve the maximum possible fuel economy for your specific make and model. Generally speaking, you should be checking your tire pressure roughly every other time you visit the gas pump. You should also be on the lookout for your vehicle listing to the left or right when you're trying to drive straight, as this can be a sign of misaligned tires. As for rotation, you should be having your tires rotated roughly every six months to ensure that wear is spread evenly across the front and rear seats of tires. So, if the last time you rotated your tires was back in April or even earlier, you're probably due for a visit to our Manhattan, KS tire center this fall.

Finally, you should be regularly checking your tire's tread, and the simplest way to do that is with the penny test. With your car shut off, take a penny and insert it into the well of your tire's tread with Lincoln's head on the coin facing down. Ideally, the tread should cover Lincoln's hairline. A little more or less is usually alright, but if you notice that you can see Lincoln's whole head, it's time for a new set of tires.

Luckily for you, we have plenty of fall tire sales going on these days on all the most popular brands and styles. So, if you're in the neighborhood of our Manhattan, KS dealership, feel free to drop by for tire service and replacement today.
